MacPGP / Privacy
MacPGP privacy policy
Effective September 5, 2026
How MacPGP handles data, including the services and integrations you choose to use.
Local keys and files
Keyrings and preferences are stored locally. Encryption, decryption and signature operations process the selected content on the Mac; exported and decrypted files remain in their chosen locations.
Passphrases
Supported workflows can save passphrases in macOS Keychain. Temporary session clearing does not delete persisted Keychain items or secret keys.
Keyservers
Search and retrieval send queries or key identifiers to the chosen server. Publishing sends public-key material, which can include identity names and email addresses; deleting a local key does not retract published copies.
Extensions
A local shared container supplies public-key information to extensions. Quick Look displays metadata rather than decrypting file contents in the preview.
Deletion and diagnostics
Key deletion removes the key and attempts related metadata and passphrase cleanup, reporting failures. Files, backups and published key copies need separate handling. No integrated analytics or crash-reporting service was found in the inspected source.
This support website
This static website does not use analytics scripts, forms, or third-party tracking scripts. GitHub Pages handles requests to the website under its own hosting and privacy practices. Visiting a source repository or contacting another service is subject to that service's policies.
